In the beginning there was the knife
and shortly thereafter the sheath. Many knifemakers are just that,
knifemakers, not sheathmakers.
They are either unwilling to make sheaths, or put in minimal effort in
making their sheaths. I used to be the same.
Then I discovered what fun sheath making can be and the wide variety of
designs and techiniques that could be applied.
It is an art unto itself. Mostly a knife merely requires a sturdy
sheath made from sturdy leather but that's only the beginning.
From there I can embellish the sheath to suit the knife.
Each sheath that I make for myself, and my customers, are individually
made, hand stitched and wet formed to fit each knife.
I use a wide variety of materials including cow hide, buffalo hide,
crocodile skin, saddle leather and even on occasion seal skin.
If you have specicfic requirments or need specific materials we can
discuss it.
Each sheath is quoted according to the knife and style of sheath
required.
So think of me when next you have that special piece in want of a
sheath.
